Settles for 10K?

A lawsuit filed by the mother of a man killed in an elevator accident at the University of Michigan in 2008 has been settled for $10,000, with the university not admitting liability.

David J. Smith of Jackson was an employee of Schindler Elevator when he fell from the fifth floor to the basement in an elevator shaft while working at the Ross School of Business.

The lawsuit was settled in September; information about the settlement was included in the agenda for the Board of Regents meeting Friday.
